Learn about Art. Learn about yourself.

Then tell your story through art.

Twenty years (ok, maybe closer to 30!) ago I started making holiday cards…because the ones in the store were “too expensive.” Who knows how many thousands of dollars later, my craft room is overflowing and I have expanded far beyond holiday cards. Art requires a sense of humor, I’ve discovered. Or at least a sense of irony.

The more I practiced, experimented, watched online artists, read blogs and took classes, the more I learned about myself, not just art. One thing I’ve discovered is how much I like trying out different techniques, styles, art supplies, etc. I also really dig upcycling “found” items into art.

As a big reader and a fan of story-telling, I struggled to find a blog that really focused on the joys, trials and tribulations of being a self-taught artist. So I decided to create this blog as a way to tell my own story and share my experiences - the hilarious, the frustrating and everything in-between.

Someday my goal is to have an actual art business. I don’t know what means or what it will look like, but it will involve upcycling, art and helping others use art to learn things about themselves. And to help people tell their own stories, their way.

For now, you can find me in person at the Montgomery Farm Women’s Cooperative Market in Bethesda, MD on the first two Saturdays of the month.

Happy arting,

Corina
